A classic route that circumnavigates the southern slope of Monte Nerone, characterized by numerous limestone outcrops along its steep slopes. The road passes between two of the most impressive and interesting rocky outcrops, Sasso del Re and Sasso della Rocca, characterized by vertical walls used as climbing walls. The summit is covered with patches of beech forest and vast meadows where numerous cattle and horses graze. Everywhere you look, you'll find panoramic views of the nearby mountains, the ridges (Serre) that mark the border between the Marche and Umbria regions, and the rocky face of Cimaio.

MTB02 S. Angelo in Maiano – S. Giovanni in Offage

The route explores a portion of the territory northeast of Cagli, between the Via Flaminia and the Cagli-Pergola provincial road, characterized by hills, small alluvial plains, and sunken ditches. The route follows quiet dirt roads without any particular difficulty, offering spectacular views of fields, groves, and the main peaks of the Apennine ridge stretching from Monte Nerone to Monte Catria. Numerous ruins of farmhouses and small churches bear witness to a rural society that has now disappeared. The climbs and descents are moderate and regular, and the terrain is never particularly rough, making it suitable for both mountain bikes and gravel bikes. There isn't much shade, so in summer, it's advisable to ride during the less sunny and hot hours.

MTB01 Monte Pietralata – Itinerary 1

A sister route to the Monte Paganuccio route (itineraries 2 and 3), but taking place on Monte Pietralata, on the opposite side of the Furlo Gorge. Climbing Monte Pietralata offers the most beautiful view of the gorge, perfect for taking postcard-perfect photos. In late spring, with the help of many birdwatchers (powerful binoculars are required), you can observe the historic eagle's nest, where the chicks are being fed. The climb is moderate and steady, with the upper section of the route passing through patches of woodland and meadows. On the return journey, you pass the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Pelingo, a popular destination for pilgrimages. The road is never particularly rough, making it suitable for both mountain bikes and gravel bikes.

MTB03 Monte Paganuccio Itineraries 2 and 3

The route runs entirely within the state nature reserve of Gola del Furlo. A magnificent strip of land whose main attraction is the Gorge, where the Candigliano River flows narrowly between Mount Pietralata and the vertical and tormented walls of Mount Paganuccio. The ancient route of the Via Flaminia also passes through here. You will almost reach the top of Mount Paganuccio, which, despite its relatively low altitude, is a treasure trove of both plant and animal biodiversity.

The climb of Monte Petrano is tiring, but beautiful and very panoramic. Once you reach the summit, you arrive at the extensive plateau, characterized by a vast prairie dotted with beech trees. The descent takes you to Moria, Pianello and Secchiano. The final stretch follows the path of the Bosso River, with beautiful views of the famous rock pools. The route can be travelled with either a gravel bike or a mountain bike.

MTB13 Great crossing of the Catria

A long and challenging route that crosses all the main reliefs of the Catria massif. The variety of environments is extraordinary: meadows, beech forests, gorges and impervious rock faces. The final stretch leads to the Fonte Avellana monastery, the most important place of worship in the entire Pesaro hinterland and beyond. You can start from Acquaviva or Frontone, but Cagli is also a convenient base. The itinerary does not present any technical difficulties and can be easily covered even with a gravel bike.
