Description
From Pianello, continue towards Pietralunga until you reach the left fork with the Casale road, shortly after passing the Agriturismo La Ferraia. Park your car at the fork.
We continue on foot, uphill, along the winding dirt road that passes a series of houses, some well-restored, others in ruins. We like to remember their names before they begin to be forgotten, even by the locals: Calagreto, Campo, Casellina, Casal di Sotto, Fossatone, Caiburanesi, Casale di Sopra. Before reaching Casalvecchio, the road, now almost a path, has collapsed, but we can continue on foot without too much difficulty.
[After Casalvecchio, there are many fallen trees, or perhaps trees that were intentionally cut down, making the passage very difficult. Check with a future hike.]
Afterwards, the road, now on a flat plain, widens and reaches the edge of the Bosco di Tecchie nature reserve, before turning in the direction of the return journey, offering a beautiful view of Monte Nerone. After a long, slightly downhill stretch, you reach the first house, Casa Val di Pietra, and then the small village of Caimarini.
From here, instead of continuing on the asphalt road, turn left onto a steep downhill dirt road to reach the Cagli – Pietralunga provincial road and, turning left, return to the starting point.
