Start from the Parish Church of San Crescentino, where it's easy to leave your car. The Parish Church of San Crescentino is a Romanesque church built around the year 1000, although some evidence suggests it dates back to the Carolingian era, predating its construction by two centuries. It's usually closed, but in the summer it's frequented by scouts and youth groups, so with a bit of luck, you can visit the interior, which features a remarkable fresco just to the left of the entrance, depicting the Madonna del Bell'Amore with Saints Ubaldo and Crescentino.

From the parish church, continue along the flat paved road toward Pian di Balbano, following the stream of the same name. After passing the village, the paved road bends right and begins to climb with a series of hairpin bends until you reach a fork: to the right goes toward Il Palazzo, the top of the hill you just climbed; to the left goes toward Ca' Balbano, where the Tecchie forest begins; continue straight on the dirt road, which initially descends slightly.

This section of the trail follows dirt roads through low scrub and is characterized by a web of logging tracks. You'll often wonder where to go next; the answer is simple: rely on the trail you can download from this page. Always remember that GPS sensors have an error of a few meters and likely show incorrect directions if you're standing still or walking for a few meters. So, walk at least 20-30 meters before deciding whether you're headed in the right direction or not.

The dirt road ends at a wider dirt road, which you take to the right downhill. Now there are no more orientation issues. Along the way, you'll encounter the ruins of Casa Serra, now devoured by ivy, and further down, the more recent buildings of Casa Pierle.

The end of the route shows you the rear part of the parish church of San Crescentino, with its beautiful watchtower and, above all, a magnificent oak tree along the road.
